* 2018 INFINITI Q60 RED SPORT 400 Shown
The 2018 INFINITI Q60 has returned with a new look, more capability, and a desire to challenge all rivals, including the Lexus RC. How do these two coupes compare? We'll take a look.
The 2018 INFINITI Q60 offers driver aids not found on the 2018 Lexus RC. The Q60’s Direct Adaptive Steering® better regulates the steering mechanism. Adaptive steering is designed to iron out rough spots in the road and provide better feedback to the driver. Auto-leveling headlights adapt to the road’s trajectory, giving the Q60 driver a better view of the road. Distance control assist can maintain a safe traveling distance between your Q60 and traffic. For better entertainment and improved driver interactions, the INFINITI InTouch system utilizes two color screens rather than the typical one in the Lexus RC. The eight-inch upper screen coordinates your multimedia while the seven-inch lower screen has climate control, navigation, and more.
Both the INFINITI Q60 and Lexus RC have an emergency autobrake to assist with forward collision dangers. INFINITI goes further however. the forward collision warning has an available predictive feature unique to INFINITI. This system watches two cars ahead to detect stopping traffic faster. Active Lane Control strengthens the assist function for the lane departure warning, making it a better system than the one found on the Lexus. INFINITI Moving Object Detection can tell you when obstacles are moving around your vehicle. This works in conjunction with the Around View Monitor® which uses cameras to reveal a 360-degree perimeter. The Backup Collision Intervention system alerts you to objects and people behind the vehicle. This system, not available with automation on the Lexus, may even apply the brakes to prevent impact.
Wards Auto declares the INFINITI Q60’s twin-turbo V6 to be one of the year's Ten Best Engines. This fire-breathing V6 offers two ways to enjoy the 2018 Q60. The first generates 305 horsepower and a high rate of torque. The high performance version generates 400 horsepower. Active grille shutters give the V6 cooling or improve aerodynamics, depending on the vehicle’s immediate need. You can’t get either of these engines on the Lexus RC. The INFINITI design also sets the Q60 apart from the Lexus RC. The new look achieves a drag coefficient of 0.28. Engineers achieved a zero-lift aerodynamic for both the front and rear of the Q60 coupe. This maintains stability when speed or crosswinds want to push the car in the wrong direction.
